3-Day Workshop: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm daily, Friday February 27 – Sunday March 1, 2015

This is the last day of a 3-day workshop that gives you practical, hands on experience building a small piece of furniture with hand tools. Course is open to students of all skill levels, and will teach many basic principles of fine furniture construction using traditional hand tools such as hand saws, chisels and hand planes. There will be a particular emphasis on hand cut dovetails.

Tom has written for Popular Woodworking Magazine, Fine Woodworking Magazine, Canadian Woodworking Magazine and the Lee Valley Tools newsletter. His first book, Made by Hand – Furniture Projects from the Unplugged Woodshop (2009, F&W Media) was the top-selling woodworking book of 2010. His much-anticipated follow-up, The Unplugged Woodshop – Hand Crafted Projects for the Home and Workshop, has received critical acclaim. Tools: Participants do not need a full tool kit to participate in this workshop. You will be contacted in advance, to determine which tools people have. The Yukon College Carpentry Workshop will have some hand tools we can use and there will be some tool sharing among participants.

Everyone will need their own small back saw (dovetail saw) and a couple of small, sharp chisels.
*If you don’t have these tools, you can purchase them through a group order being placed with Lee Valley tools. For $90, you will receive a Veritas dovetail saw and two Narex chisels (1/4 and ½). This is a $20 discount from the regular price. This option is available to you when you register up until order deadline on February 12.
