Women in the Woodshop

Every 2nd Monday of the month from 6:30 – 9:00 pm Yukonstruct is now offering drop-in space for makerspace members who identify as women, trans, or gender non-binary to come and use the woodshop in a safe and supportive environment.

How it works:
  • You must be an active makerspace member to attend, and you must have previously taken the woodshop safety orientation class.
  • While there will be a makerspace volunteer or staff member present, this is not a programmed event – there is no set project, taught class, or agenda for the evening.
  • There will be a limited supply of project kits available for sale (first come first serve) with instructions that you can work through.
  • You could come with your existing project to work on. You could also come to practice using a piece of machinery, to get advice from other members, or just to meet other woodshop makers like you in our community!
Our goal is to make sure that the makerspace is inclusive of everyone. Although we have a welcoming community of makers, we also understand that the woodshop can be an intimidating space for some.
