Hall of Innovation
Request for Expressions of Interest: Hall of Innovation –
Art Installations, mural, sculptures, photography, media
Yukonstruct Society is seeking proposals from local artists and makers interested in creating and designing an innovative space that will celebrate Yukon innovators and change makers. This space can include murals, sculptures, installations, or other inspiring media that will tell the story of Innovation in the Yukon.
Proposals are due by Sunday, November 15, at 11:59 pm (Pacific).
Information sessions will be held at NorthLight Innovation (2180, 2nd Avenue) on Friday October 16, Monday, October 19, and Thursday, October 22 at both 12 pm and 5 pm, along with a tour of the space to help interested creatives better understand our vision.
The Hall of Innovation is created to inspire Yukoners to continue the important work of pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, challenging the status quo, striving to make a positive impact and recognizing the pivotal Yukoners who have improved life in the Yukon. The selected project(s) will proclaim that the Yukon is open for creativity, open for entrepreneurship, and open for disruption.
Yukonstruct Society will celebrate local innovators with an awards ceremony on Nov. 20, 2020 and with a permanent, public facing hall at NorthLight Innovation. Called The Hall of Innovation, the purpose of this Hall is to honour those who have helped create a brighter future in the Yukon in innovative ways, and to tell the story of innovation in the Yukon context.
The purpose of this request for expressions of interest is to select an artist or a group of artists to create an innovative space inside, or out, of the NorthLight Innovation building. The goal is to tell the story of innovation in the Yukon through the creation of original art, and to champion the people and projects that made that story what it is today.
Yukonstruct Society is a local non-profit organisation based in downtown Whitehorse, since 2014. As an organization, Yukonstruct values bold ideas, creativity, providing support to a thriving community, and ensuring that they are opening doors for people looking to pursue their ideas. This is a creative and productive space and community. Yukonstruct’s mission is to empower makers and entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life with impact.
A selection panel consisting of representatives from Yukonstruct staff, board members and members will engage in a one-stage artist selection process to review all artist submissions. The selected artist(s) will enter into a contract with Yukonstruct Society.
Yukonstruct encourages First Nation citizens, women, trans and non-binary people, and POC to submit proposals. If there are any barriers or challenges to applying, our staff are happy to support you, please reach out to us.
