Did you know that Yukon has over 90 species of bees! You are invited to a Work Bee to contribute to native bee habitat and monitoring in Yukon.
This is a community project where you can contribute to a citizen science initiative in Yukon while gaining experience in the woodshop.
At the Work Bee, you will:
- Learn about native Yukon bees and how they pollinate both wild and domestic plants;
- Help to build bee houses that will be used in a citizen-based monitoring project conducted by Maria Leung;
- Go home with the experience and plans to build your very own bee house;
- Gain experience with a few of the tools in YuKonstruct’s woodshop.
The aim is to construct at least thirty bee houses for solitary cavity nesting bees during the Work Bee.
