Get started on the mini-wood lathe! This workshop is designed to give an introduction to the wood lathe- including setup, chisels, setting up blanks and how to do simple spindle work between centres as well as faceplate turning.
Turning with the mini-lathe is no different than with the big lathe, but it is more convenient for making small objects like chess pieces, pens, small bowls, cups and vases and similar. We have 10 mini-lathes for members, so availability of a machine should never be an issue.
Around that, we talk about safety and clean up.
- We will ask you to wash your hands as soon as you enter the building. After you wash your hands, we encourage you not to touch your mouth or eyes while in the building.
- We encourage you to bring and wear a fabric or dust mask, to protect you from wood dust generated by the lathe.
- Our instructor will be wearing a fabric mask.
If this training session is full, please sign up for the waitlist to be notified if a spot opens up in this session, or when another training session is scheduled.
