This workshop runs over the course of two evenings: Monday, March 29 and Tuesday, March 30, from 6-9pm each evening.

Learn basic wood turning and walk home with your unique candlestick!

YOU GET TO CHOOSE YOUR WOOD THE FIRST EVENING AND GLUE UP YOUR TIMBER FOR THE CANDLESTICK. A nice selection of hardwoods is included in the price.

This session includes an introduction to the wood lathe including setup, chisels, setting up blanks and how to do spindle work between centers. You will also learn proper glue-up techniques.

Both members and non-members, regardless of whether they have taken our woodshop orientation, are encouraged to join.

Closed-toed shoes required. Wear clothes that can get dirty.

About the instructor: Amy is a woodworker, Maker and long-time member.

COVID-19 protocol:

  • We will ask you to wash your hands as soon as you enter the building. After you wash your hands, we encourage you not to touch your mouth or eyes while in the building.
  • We require you to bring and wear a fabric or dust mask, to reduce spread of anything and protect you from woodshop dust.
  • Our instructor will be wearing a fabric mask when they can’t social distance.
  • Workstations are spaced 6 feet apart to limit face-to-face contact.
  • Stay home if you are sick or have a fever, cough or shortness of breath.
