In this electronics workshop, you will build a flashlight and gain understanding how a battery-powered circuit with a switch is assembled.
Each participant will get their own flashlight to assemble and take home.
This workshop will teach you the following:
- Read a circuit and identify basic symbols (switch, LED, resistor, power supply, battery)
- Calculate the LED limit resistor
- How current flows
- How to polarize an LED (Anode & Cathode)
- Basic soldering
About the instructor:
My name is Nicky Rosenberg and I am looking forward to being your instructor for this electronics workshop.
This workshop is part of a series I plan to teach which will provide the necessary skills to take your own ideas to the next level to design, build and create electronic circuits, computers, programming, robotics and even art creations.
I am an entrepreneur and inventor. My educational background is in Electronic Engineering (BSC) and I spent many years developing electronic circuits and prototyping. I like not only designing, but mostly hands-on projects which integrate electronics, mechanics and other fields.
I’ve taught Computer Communication in College, had an IT company for 5 years, and developed electronics projects since I was in high school, even built my own computer when it was too expensive for me to buy one.
You might say it has been, and still is, my hobby for a very long time. Some people play the piano, some play a sport, and I enjoy learning and developing new electronic products. On a personal note, some of my hobbies include mountain biking, camping and music.
I am looking forward to the experience and challenge of teaching and learning with you. Let’s work together to ensure a positive outcome and have fun.

- Masks are mandatory for this workshop. If you don’t have one, free masks are provided (if available to us).
- We will ask you to wash your hands as soon as you enter the building. After you wash your hands, we encourage you not to touch your mouth or eyes while in the building.
- Workstations are spaced 6 feet apart to limit face-to-face contact.
- Our instructor will be wearing a fabric mask when they can’t social distance.
- Stay home if you are sick or have a fever, cough or shortness of breath.
